Zilinec makes 21 saves, Wolverines fall to Jr. Blues in final game

After a battle of a game and an attempted come back, the Anchorage Wolverines fall to the Springfield Jr. Blues 3-2 in the final game of the series.

The Jr. Blues had an early lead against the Wolverines, putting up all three of their points in the first 15-minutes of the contest.

The Wolverines trailed by three until Kade Shea found the back of the net with 30 seconds left in the first, bringing the Wolverines back into the game.

Camden Shasby tallied his second goal with the Wolverines early in the second period, with an assist from Trent Powell and Fedya Nikolayenya.

Jozef Zilinec sat in net for the Wolverines, his first game appearance since October 21st when the Wolverines faced off against the Janesville Jets in an 8-6 win.

Anchorage’s defence seemed to hold off Springfield, despite the loss.

It the first two games of the series, Springfield averaged 35.5 SOG per match, in compared to tonight’s mere 24 SOG.

JJ Cataldo, netminder for Springfield, led the team from the net tonight. Anchorage zipped by the defence for 43 SOG, Cataldo saved 41.

The Anchorage Wolverines will enjoy the holidays with the next game being against the Chippewa Steel on December 29th and 30th in Chippewa.
