The Anchorage Wolverines forwards shone in Saturday’s win against the Janesville Jets as they outscored their opponents 8-5. The Wolverines top scorers came ready to play, with the line of Aiden Westin, Cameron Morris and Jackson Reinke scoring half of the team’s goals and picking up seven points between the three of them.

Anchorage established a lead early in the 1st thanks to a Hayden Hennen wraparound at the 2:54 mark of the opening frame. Andy Ramsey added to the lead halfway through the period, and despite a Janesville goal shortly after, the Wolverines would tack on two more, from Reineke and Tomek Haula. The Jets would make as game of it in the 2nd however, scoring twice to cut Anchorage’s lead to one. The Wolverines would respond with a goal of their own and reestablished their multi-goal lead before the end of the period, thanks to a Cameron Morris powerplay goal.

The scoring didn’t stop in the 3rd period, as Westin potted his first of the evening to give the Anchorage their three-goal lead back. Both teams traded goals from there, with Reinke scoring his second of the night and Fedya Nikolayenya closing the game out with an empty netter. Eino Rissanen made 30 saves in the win.

With the win, the Wolverines pass the Jets in the standings and are in a playoff spot for the first time this season. Anchorage is on the road next week in Fairbanks, and will play the Ice Dogs on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. AKST. Both games are available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV.
