Springfield, Illinois | 2/3/23 | Isaac Smoldon
The Anchorage Wolverines lost 7-0 to the Springfield Jr. Blues in the two teams’ second meeting of the weekend on Friday night. The Wolverines will have a chance for revenge tomorrow evening when they play the Jr. Blues for just the third time this season.
Things started poorly for Anchorage when Springfield scored five minutes into the 1st period, and they didn’t get much better as the night went on. The Jr. Blues scored twice more in the opening frame to go up 3-0, and then tacked on three more goals in the 2nd period. With one more added on late in the final frame for good measure, Springfield won decisively, by a final score of 7-0.
Eino Rissanen made 17 saves on the 20 shots he faced, with Shane Soderwall making 14 saves after coming in in relief. The two teams play for the final time this weekend Saturday at 3:05 AKST. The game is available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV.
