FAIRBANKS, AK — The Anchorage Wolverines faced a tough test Friday night at the Big Dipper, falling 7-1 to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the opening game of the two-game weekend series.

Fairbanks controlled the pace early and built a commanding lead before Anchorage found the scoresheet late in the third period. Harout Arutyunyan spoiled the shutout with four minutes remaining, finishing off the Wolverines’ lone goal of the night.

The Wolverines aim to bounce back and finish the Fairbanks road trip on a strong note. The two teams meet again Saturday night as the Wolverines look to turn the page and close out the weekend with a statement performance.
