Wolverines Head to Kenai, Continue Club 49 Road Tour

Nov 30, 2022

Anchorage, Alaska | 11/30/22 | Isaac Smoldon

The Anchorage Wolverines stay on the road to take on the Kenai River Brown Bears this weekend, with the two in-state rivals meeting just twice so far this season. This weekend’s pair of games marks the start of a four-game stretch featuring Anchorage and Kenai River, with games being played the following weekend at the Ben Boeke.

The Wolverines were swept by the Brown Bears the last time they played Kenai River, losing 4-2 in the first matchup and 2-1 in overtime the in the second game. The Brown Bears have rebounded after an eighth place finish in the 2021-22 regular season, and they currently sit in third place in the Midwest division. The Wolverines are in seventh place in the Midwest, but after another strong slate of games against Fairbanks the previous weekend, they have the lead in the Club 49 Cup standings. Anchorage has 10 points against the other Alaska teams this season, the Ice Dogs trail close behind with nine, and Kenai River is bringing up the rear with just five. That said, the Brown Bears have the least amount of games played against Alaska teams with just four so far on the season, so the Wolverines will be looking to pick up as many points as possible against Kenai River in this slate of four games.

This weekend’s games are available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV, and the Anchorage Wolverines broadcast can be viewed by selecting the AWAY feed. Tickets for the following weekend’s games at the Ben can be bought now on anchoragewolverines.com.
