ANCHORAGE, AK — The Anchorage Wolverines dropped their second home game of the season Friday night against the Kenai River Brown Bears.

Kenai River opened the scoring with three goals in the first period before the Wolverines began to chip away at the deficit.

Caleb Mahar put the Wolverines on the board with six minutes remaining in the opening frame. Sheldon Rioux sent the puck from the top of the near-side circle to Michael Kotora along the goal line, who quickly one-timed it to Mahar in the slot. Mahar finished the play to cut the deficit to 2-1.

John Scott brought the Wolverines within one early in the second period after Landon Greenough carried the puck into the zone and centered it for Scott, who buried the one-timer.

The Wolverines had a late opportunity to even the score, spending the final 3:45 of the contest on the power play, but were unable to capitalize.

The team returns to Sullivan Arena next week for a two-game series against the newest addition to the Midwest Division, the Minnesota Mallards, on November 6 and 7.
