The Anchorage Wolverines lost a close game in overtime against the Corpus Christi Ice Rays on Sunday morning, by a final score of 3-2. The game was Anchorage’s last of the preseason, with the regular season beginning on Wednesday against the Amarillo Wranglers. The Wolverines ended their slate of exhibition games with a record of 2-0-1.

Drake Albers and Moritz Lackner were the two goal scorers for Anchorage in Sunday’s contest, with Danny Reis, Ben Dardis, and Kyle Bauer all picking up assists. The Ice Rays would ultimately win in overtime however, avenging their preseason loss to the Wolverines this past Friday.

The Wolverines now look forward to the NAHL showcase, which begins Wednesday and marks the start of the regular season for Anchorage. Wednesday’s game takes place at 8:15 a.m. AKDT against the Amarillo Wranglers. Then on Thursday, the Wolverines play the Maine Nordiques at 1:30 p.m. AKDT. Friday’s match will be against a familiar foe, with Anchorage facing off against the St. Cloud Norsemen at 4:15 p.m. AKDT, who they swept in the semi-final round of the Robertson Cup Championship this past May. Finally, on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. AKDT the Wolverines take on the Minot Minotauros, for their final game of the showcase. Every game of the showcase, and the ensuing season is available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV.
