Apr 12, 2022

Fairbanks, Alaska | 4/9/22 | Isaac Smoldon

The Wolverines lost 2-0 to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in a reversal of Friday nights score. With the win, Fairbanks also won the Club 49 Cup, beating Anchorage by a single point. Fairbanks ends the season with 77 points, and currently sit in first place in the Midwest division. Anchorage has 68 points and currently occupy fourth place, but are just a single point ahead of the firth place Janesville Jets.

Raythan Robbins and Kayden Hargraves were once again in between the pipes for their respective teams, but this time it would be Hargraves who shut out his counterpart. Kevin Marx Noren and McCabe Dvorak were the two goal scorers for the Ice Dogs, with Robbins stopping 26 of 28 shots in the contest. Hargraves made 31 saves in his shoutout performance.

Anchorage clings to the last playoff spot in the Midwest by just a point, but maintain a game-in-hand over the Jets. The Wolverines play a three-game series this weekend against the sixth-place Minnesota Magicians, while Janesville faces off in a two-game weekend against the Springfield Jr. Blues, who are in second. The Wolverines control their own destiny in the playoff race, and with a series win against Minnesota, can punch their ticket to the Robertson Cup Playoffs. The first game of the weekend takes place on Thursday at 7PM at the Ben, with the next two games taking place on Friday and Saturday at the same time. Tickets for the final games of the regular season are available now at anchoragewolverines.com, and all games will be streaming exclusively on HockeyTV.
