The Anchorage Wolverines secured another win tonight against the Kenai River Brown Bears. Between the two games, the Wolverines managed 14 goals and secured 4 points; moving the Wolverines up the ranks in the Midwest Division, now sitting in third place.

The clean swept weekend pushed the Wolverines to 10 points on the Club 49 Cup Point Tracker, soaring over the competition and leaving Fairbanks and Kenai battling to catch up, with 4 and 3 points respectively.

Lukas Bellinger started the night when Fedya Nikolayenya’s shot ricocheted off Bellinger’s stick, finding the back of the net at 9:32 in the first.

Christian Theberge zipped one in two minutes later for his first NAHL goal.

Using the power play, Nikolayenya grabbed himself another point when Bryce Monrean found Trent Powell, passed to Nikolayenya who lit the lamp 4:17 into the second for the game winning goal.

Powell scored on his hometown team in the fourth minute of the second, assisted by Tai Ushio and Camden Shasby, making it Shasby’s first point with the Wolverines.

At 10:13 in the last, Ushio hit the back door with another power play goal. Less than two minutes later, Bagnole brought the puck up with a 3 on 1 odd man rush and sniped it in the net.

Blake Markwell found Kade Shea in the last two minutes of the contest, where he secured the last goal of the night.

The boys will be enjoying Thanksgiving weekend off the ice. The Anchorage Wolverines return to The Ben on December 2 for another Kenai River match up.
