Oct 2, 2021

The Wolverines were able to tally another win Saturday night against the Chippewa Steel, taking the finale of the 3-game series 7-1.

The Wolverines were first on the scoresheet when Talon Sigurdson flipped one top shelf off the pass from Cameron Morris. Defenseman Joey Moffatt followed up on the energy, scoring 2 goals within 20 seconds of each other to put the team up 3-0 with just over 10 minutes of the remaining in the first.

Almost halfway through the second, the Wolverines chipped in another shot by Alexander Babich, increasing the lead to 4-0. Jackson Reineke, mid-fall, got a backhanded shot over the shoulder of the Steel goalie to add another tally making it 5-0.

Talon Sigurdson with back-to-back goals, earned his second hat-trick of the season. The Steel retaliated by sneaking one past the Wolverines’ net minder to make the final score 7-1.

Shane Soderwall was in between the pipes making 27 saves on net.

This game concludes the 3 game series against the Steel, with the Wolverines finishing 2-1. The Wolverines open their season at home against the Springfield Junior Blues in a three game series starting on Friday, October 15, at Ben Boeke Ice Arena.
