Tyler Hennen’s 2-goal night brings the Anchorage Wolverines to 4-3 win over Fairbanks Ice Dogs

The Anchorage Wolverines continue to fine tune their game as they walk away with a 4-3 victory over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.

Tyler Hennen opened the game at 11:32 in the first period with assists coming from Fedya Nikolayenya and Jackson Stimple.

Artem Shchipanov returned to the ice for the first time since getting injured on March 9th against the Springfield Jr. Blues. Shchipanov buried the Wolverines second goal of the night in the 13th minute of the second frame.

Romulus Riego De Dios followed two minutes later putting the Wolverines up 3-0.

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs reacted with a goal with just over a minute left in the second, and came in early in the third turning the score 3-2.

Two minutes after Fairbanks’ second goal, Hennen capitalized on a pass from Arvega Hovsepyan, tallying his second goal of the night and widening the Wolverines lead to 4-2.

The Ice Dogs managed to sneak one more past Liam Beerman, finalizing tonight’s score at 4-3.

The Club 49 Cup is staying in Anchorage! Alaska Airlines presented the Cup to the Wolverines after tonight’s win. The tracker is still tallying points, but with the Wolverines taking an early lead that continued through the season, they secured the Cup for the second time in a row.

The series isn’t over! The Anchorage Wolverines host the Fairbanks Ice Dogs for the final time of the season tomorrow with a 7:00pm puck drop.
