The Anchorage Wolverines have brought a new era of hockey to Anchorage, and to say they have impressed would be an understatement.

The Wolverines earned their 12th straight victory tonight and 34th on the season; making it the winningest season in the Wolverines’ history.

Cole Christian opened tonight’s game with the Wolverines first goal at the 12:11 mark in the first frame. Fedya Nikolayenya quickly widened the Wolverines lead 10 seconds later with assists from Blake Markwell and Tyler Hennen.

Ren Morque of the Minnesota Wilderness bagged the lone goal of the second period, closing the gap to 2-1.

40 seconds after the final period commenced, the Wilderness managed to sneak one by netminder Liam Beerman to level the score at 2-2.

Kade Shea brought the lead back to Anchorage once more with less than three minutes left in the contest, for his third game-winning-goal of the season.

Minnesota pulled their goalie giving them the man advantage, Shea capitalized on the empty net landing his second goal of the night at 19:32.

Minnesota reacted at full tilt, immediately pushing the puck down the ice and finding the back of the net once more with only 11 seconds left in the game.

The Wolverines were able to hold the Wilderness off for the last 10 seconds, finalizing the score at 4-3.

The two teams face off again tomorrow for the second and final game in this series. Don’t forget to wear TEAL as we continue to auction off our player worn teal edition jerseys!
