Tai Ushio made his debut on the ice for the first time since returning from World Juniors. Ushio capitalized on a ricocheted shot from Oliver Salo and secured the game winning goal with just nine seconds left in the second period.

After a scoreless final period, Chippewa gained the advantage when they pulled goaltender Carter Wishart. Monrean had a chance to grab his first hattrick of the season but missed the empty net with 1:30 left in the game.

Monrean then received a two-minute tripping penalty, putting Anchorage on a 6v4 penalty kill for the rest of the contest.
