Jack McKenna led the charge Friday night, scoring three of the Wolverines’ six goals in a 6-4 win over the Janesville Jets.
Oliver Morris put the Wolverines on the board first, one-timing a loose puck from the far side to give Anchorage an early lead.
Just two minutes later, the Jets leveled the score, but the tie wouldn’t last long. McKenna redirected a pass from Balint Lobenwein from nearly the exact spot where Morris recorded his goal, restoring the Wolverines’ lead.
Just before the opening frame came to a close, McKenna found the back of the net again, recording his second of the night and extending Anchorage’s lead to 3-1.
Caleb Mahar added to the lead less than a minute into the second period, scoring shorthanded after recovering a Jets turnover in the neutral zone. Mahar skated in alone and slid the puck through the netminder’s five-hole to make it 4-1.
McKenna completed the hat trick later in the frame. After battling for the puck in the corner, McKenna emerged with possession and showed patience, allowing the netminder to follow him from right to left before tucking the puck into the back of the net.
With just two seconds remaining in the second period, Mahar recorded his second of the night after the Jets turned the puck over in the slot, giving the Wolverines a 6-3 advantage heading into the final frame.
Janesville added one goal in the third, but Anchorage held on to secure the 6-4 victory.
The Wolverines and Jets will meet again tomorrow to close out the series, marking Anchorage’s final road game before returning home for the 2026-27 home opener next weekend.
