Kenai steals first series of season from Anchorage

Anchorage, Alaska | December 2, 2023 | Jacqueline Hixssen

Kenai’s first goal came just six minutes into the game in a powerplay after a high sticking penalty was called on Cole Frawner.

Nicholas Stevens of Kenai took the puck up the ice in the 14th minute, beating Jackson Stimple in a one on one and scored through Beerman’s five hole, for Kenai’s second goal.

Cole Christian scored with 5 minutes left in the second, but the goal was retracted after review. Greenough took the puck behind the net, forcing Kenai’s goalie to adjust and shift the net off the pegs; at the same time, Christian took his shot, resulting in the goal to be called off.

Jackson Stimple got the Wolverines’ first official goal of the night receiving a pass from Brock Devlin and drilling it to the back of the net. Stimple’s second goal of the night was bar down at 17:32 in the second.

Christian got his redemption at 10:01 in the third, when Greenough found him after a fake shot pass that was capitalized on by Christian.

Although Kenai finished the weekend on top, the Anchorage Wolverines still hold the first position on the Club 49 Point Tracker.

The next home games for the Anchorage Wolverines are January 19th and 20th when the Fairbanks Ice Dogs travel south to The Ben.

Next weekend, we’ll travel to the states to play the Janesville Jets in a two game series. Join us at Matanuska Brew Company for a WATCH PARTY for both nights!

THANK YOU WOLVERINES NATION! We had over 200 teddy bears tossed onto the ice tonight, your generous donations are greatly appreciated!
