The Anchorage Wolverines came out victorious against the Wisconsin Windigo for game one of the Midwest Division Championship.

Arvega Hovsepyan opened the night in the 14th minute of the first period with an assist from Danny Bagnole. Five minutes later, Everett Pietila of Wisconsin leveled the score closing the gap before the frame finished.

Drew Nelson chalked up his first NAHL goal, hitting the five hole and giving the Wolverines their second lead of the night in the fifth minute of the second.

Bagnole had another assist before the second could finish, grabbing an apple to Tyler Hennen’s third goal of playoffs and putting the Wolverines up by two.

Wisconsin secured an early goal in the final period, breaking through goaltender Liam Beerman in the first two minutes.

The Wolverines went short-handed twice throughout the final frame, handling the penalty kill and holding off the Windigo to take game one of the Midwest Division Championship.

The two teams will face off again tomorrow for potentially the last game at The Ben of the 2023-2024 season.

Puck drops at 7:00pm, if the Wolverines win, the series will be completed next weekend in Eagle River, Wisconsin.
