The Anchorage Wolverines leave victorious after 60 minutes of play against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.

Luke Anderson started the game off hot for the Wolverines, sniping one in the back of the net only 2:42 into the first; making it the first goal of the night and first goal of the season for Anderson.

Trent Powell brought the puck up the ice four minutes later, passing to Jack Darby who sauced it to Bryce Monrean for the Wolverines second goal.

After a wide shot from the Ice Dogs, they managed to skate through the defence again and attempt on Beerman. But Beerman was too quick, forcing his skate between the goal and puck to stop the shot. Watch the save HERE.

Nearly three minutes later, the Ice Dogs found the back of the net, finalizing the first period’s score at 2-1.

The Ice Dogs evened the score 10 minutes into the second contest, the tie was shortly lived.

Blake Markwell took a shot right in front of the blue line, but the puck ricocheted off Fedya Nikolayenya’s skate and found the back of the net to put the Wolverines in the lead once again.

The Wolverines shut out the Ice Dogs through the third period.

Tai Ushio and Cole Christian connected early in the third lighting the lamp for the fourth time of the night.

Fairbanks pulled their goalie to gain the offensive advantage – Nikolayenya found the back of the net for the second time of the night with 30 seconds left in the game, securing his 10th goal of the season.
