Anchorage Wolverines Tied for First in Midwest Division

The Wolverines walk away with their 38th win of the season with tonight’s 5-3 victory over the Janesville Jets.

After a scoreless first period, Jack Darby got his first NAHL goal, finding the back of the net 10 minutes into the second period. 

Arvega Hovsepyan widened the lead with a cross-ice pass from Bryce Monrean, one-timing it stick-side, putting it over the goalies shoulder.

With just 1:55 left in the second, Janesville thought they got on the board, but after review, the puck never crossed the line. 

Janesville bagged their first goal with only 55 seconds left in the second frame. Three minutes into the final period, Janesville evened the score at 2-2 with a rebound goal.

Fedya Nikolayenya had a big night, grabbing his 100th point. Nikolayenya assisted in Darby’s goal, and then grabbed one of his own bringing the Wolverines back to a one point lead, he now sits with 101 points overall.

Romulus Riego De Dios tipped in the Wolverines fourth goal of the match with just over four minutes left in the contest.

Jackson Stimple ended the night with an empty net goal sent from Anchorage’s zone. 

Tonight’s win brought the Wolverines into first place, tying with the Wisconsin Windigo with 82 points. The Wolverines still have two games in hand, giving them an opportunity to solidify their first place spot.
