Anchorage Wolverines Fall Short in 4-3 Loss to Chippewa Steel

Sep 30, 2021

In the first of a 3-game series with the Steel, the Anchorage Wolverines were unable to mount a comeback, falling 4-3 Thursday night.

The scoring began late in 1st, when Joey Moffatt put the Wolverines on the board 16 minutes into the frame.  The lead didn’t last long, as the Steel responded 2 minutes later to knot it up 1-1 at the end of the period.

The second period performance by the Steel proved enough for the win, as Chippewa knocked in 2 goals within the first 5 minutes of the period.  The Wolverines’ Hunter Bischoff was able to shorten the gap twice in the period, but the Steel never surrendered the lead.  A scoreless 3rd period would secure the win for the Steel.

Between the pipes, Shane Soderwall denied 32 shots on net for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines will face the Steel Friday, October 1 and Saturday, October 2 at 4:00 AKST. For more game updates follow along on HockeyTV.com, and on our social media accounts.
