The Anchorage Wolverines beat the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 6-3 on Saturday night, picking up two points in both the Club 49 Cup and Midwest division standings. The Wolverines’ offense was the star of the show, with Jackson Reineke tallying four points with two goals and two assists and Fedya Nikolayenya recording three points in the contest.

Anchorage flipped the script on the Ice Dogs Saturday night, scoring the first goal of the game late in the 1st to take a 1-0 lead into the middle frame. Cameron Morris got the first goal scored by the Wolverines, off an assist from Aiden Westin. Anchorage then extended their lead to three before the end of the 2nd. Tomek Haula scored early into the middle frame with Jackson Reineke netting a pair of goals before the end of the period, including one off of a hard-working effort from Hayden Hennen. Fairbanks scored once in the 2nd period, beating Eino Rissanen while on the powerplay. In the 3rd, the Ice Dogs would try to battle back into the game, but a pair of goals of Fedya Nikolayenya put the game out of reach for the visitors, and the Wolverines won, 6-3.

Anchorage heads to Springfield next weekend, to play the Jr. Blues for the first time this season. The two teams will play three games against each other, with Thursday and Friday’s games starting at 4:05 AKST, and Saturday’s beginning at 3:05 AKST. All three games will be available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV.
