Anchorage Wins in Convincing Fashion on Friday

The Anchorage Wolverines secured two more points in the Midwest division standings with their win on Friday, beating the Chippewa Steel by a final score of 5-1. Kory Diponio scored his first goal of the season to break the ice just over four minutes into the first, but the Steel tied it five minutes later on the powerplay. In the 2nd, the Wolverines would regain the one goal lead when Hunter Bischoff beat Nick Haas to score his 12th of the season. The game remained close until the 3rd period, until a five-minute powerplay allowed Anchorage to score three goals in four minutes. Drake Albers scored two of the goals for the Wolverines in the 3rd, earning himself the first star of the game. Raythan Robbins made 22 saves on 23 shots for Anchorage.

With the win, the Wolverines keep pace in the Midwest division, holding onto fourth place with 65 points. Anchorage and Chippewa play one more time this weekend, Saturday at the Ben at 7 PM AKST.
