Anchorage Takes on Fairbanks Following Weekend Sweep of Brown Bears

Anchorage, Alaska | 1/25/23 | Isaac Smoldon

After sweeping the Kenai River Brown Bears at home this past week, the Anchorage Wolverines will play their other cross state rivals in the Fairbanks Ice Dogs this Friday and Saturday at home at the Ben. The Wolverines have been excellent against the Ice Dogs this season, with a record of 4-1-1 versus Fairbanks this year.

Both teams are coming off of a weekend sweep, but the Ice Dogs were on the wrong end of theirs, as they lost both of last weekend’s games in Fairbanks to the visiting Wisconsin Windigo. Fairbanks is still on top of the Midwest division, while Anchorage sits in sixth, three points out of a playoff spot. In the Club 49 Cup race, the Wolverines are in first with 21 points, while the Ice Dogs trail behind with 13 points.

Both Friday and Saturday’s games start at 7 p.m. AKST, with tickets available now at tickets.anchoragewolverines.com. For those not able to watch the games in person, the live broadcast for both games can be watched exclusively on HockeyTV.
