Anchorage, Alaska |3/11/23 | Isaac Smoldon

The Anchorage Wolverines fell by a score of 6-2 on Saturday night, dropping both games this weekend to the Minnesota Wilderness. The Wolverines picked up just two points against the Minnesota this regular season, with a record of 0-4-2 against the Wilderness in their six games against one another.

Minnesota would score first once again in Saturday’s contest, but Anchorage would respond when Kory DiPonio tipped in a pass from Cameron Morris up top. The Wilderness would take a one goal lead into the middle frame, however, thanks to Sawyer Scholl scoring his second powerplay goal of the night shortly after DiPonio tied it up. Both teams traded goals in the 2nd, with Oliver Doran potting his third of the year to keep the Wolverines within striking distance. Despite Anchorage trailing by just a goal with 20 minutes remaining, Minnesota put the game out of reach with three unanswered goals in the final period, and the Wolverines lost 6-2.

Anchorage has next weekend off, but their home stand will continue March 24-26 with a three-game series against the Springfield Jr. Blues. The first two games will begin at 7 p.m. AKST, with the 26th starting at 4 p.m. AKST. Tickets for the game are available now at tickets.anchoragewolverines.com, with all three games’ live broadcast available exclusively on HockeyTV.
