Anchorage Sweeps the Weekend with Saturday Win

Anchorage put on a clinic on Saturday night against the visiting Kenai River Brown Bears, winning by a final score of 7-2. Matt Johnson led the Wolverines in scoring, firing two goals into the back of the Kenai net. Clay Allen recorded the game winner in the second frame on the way to Anchorage scoring seven unanswered through all three periods. Shane Soderwall earned himself first star of the night with 25 saves on 27 shots, and the Wolverines skated to an easy win.

Anchorage jumped back into fourth place with the win, passing the Janesville Jets in the standings. The Wolverines also now are three points ahead in the Club 49 Cup, with Fairbanks sitting in second place.

Anchorage takes on the Chippewa Steel this upcoming Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Ben at 7PM AKST. Next weekend is throwback weekend, with the Wolverines honoring the former Anchorage professional hockey team that is their namesake. Come watch the home team compete in specialty jerseys designed to honor the Anchorage Wolverines of the past, with all jerseys being auctioned off at the end of the weekend.
