Anchorage Splits Series Against Janesville

Oct 22, 2022

Anchorage, Alaska | 10/22/22 | Isaac Smoldon

The Anchorage Wolverines fell short against the Janesville Jets on Saturday, losing by a score of 5-2. Anchorage tried to mount a late 3rd period comeback, but were unsuccessful, despite several scoring opportunities late in the contest.

Saturday’s game proceeded much like Friday’s, with Janesville scoring two goals in both the 1st and 2nd periods to go into the final frame up 4-0. Similarly, Anchorage scored twice in the 3rd to make the game close, with Jackson Reineke and David Tolan each scoring in the final period. Unlike Friday, the Wolverines wouldn’t be able to find the back of the net while their goaltender was pulled, and an empty-netter by Janesville sealed the game, with the Jets winning by a score of 5-2.

Anchorage secured two points in their home-opening weekend, and they now look forward to their next series, a three-game homestand against the Wisconsin Windigo. The Wolverines play Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. AKDT and Sunday at 4 p.m. AKDT. Tickets for all three games are available now on anchoragewolverines.com, or fans can view the games virtually exclusively on HockeyTV.
