Anchorage Loses to Wisconsin in First Game of Weekend

Dec 16, 2022

Eagle River, Wisconsin| 12/16/22 | Isaac Smoldon

The Anchorage Wolverines lost 5–2 to the Wisconsin Windigo Friday night, on the road in Eagle River Wisconsin. The pair of games this weekend mark the final two contests for both teams before the NAHL’s Christmas break to the 2022-23 regular season.

The Wolverines got off to a slow start in the 1st, with Wisconsin putting up three goals in the opening frame, while Anchorage managed just one, from Cameron Morris. In the 2nd period, the Wolverines would begin to claw their way back in, with Aiden Westin scoring off assists from Kyle Bauer and Morris. Unfortunately for Anchorage, the Windigo would score two goals early into the 3rd that would put the game out of reach, and the Wolverines would ultimately fall to Wisconsin by a final score of 5-2.

Both teams play again tomorrow night at 4 p.m. AKST. With the Midwest division continuing to stay tight, the two points on the line are incredibly valuable to Anchorage and the Windigo, both of whom are within reach of a playoff spot. The game can be watched exclusively on HockeyTV.
