Anchorage, Alaska| 10/5/22 | Isaac Smoldon

The Anchorage Wolverines have finally returned from their extended lower 48 road trip to start the season, playing 10 games in total during a three-week span. Anchorage holds a record of 3-4-3 in those 10 games, and their nine points in the standings puts them in 6th place in the Midwest division.

The Wolverines now prepare to play their cross-state rivals in the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, and their two-game weekend marks the first time this season that any of the three Alaska NAHL teams will play against each other. As such, it will mark the first opportunity for any of these teams to claim points in the Club 49 Cup standings, a competition between the Wolverines, Ice Dogs and Kenai River Brown Bears to see who will have the best record against each other in the regular season. Fairbanks took home the trophy last season, beating Anchorage by one point. In the 2021-22 season the Wolverines boasted a 6-5-1 record while playing against the Ice Dogs.

The two games will take place on Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 AKDT p.m. As always the games are available to watch on HockeyTV, but fans will be able to watch the Wolverines side of the broadcast by selecting “AWAY” as their feed when watching both games.
