The Anchorage Wolverines lost 6-2 to the Chippewa Steel on Sunday evening, ending the regular season with a record of 3-3-0 against their opponent this weekend. Shane Soderwall made another 43 saves for the Wolverines in his third game in as many days.

The Wolverines got out to an early lead once again on Sunday, with Jackson Reineke scoring just a minute-and-a-half into the opening period off an offensive zone face-off. Anchorage would hold their one-goal lead for the remainder of the 1st and through much of the 2nd period, but the Steel continued to chip away and finally broke Soderwall late in the middle frame, tying the game before the start of the final period.

Chippewa jumped out to their first lead of the game three minutes into the 3rd, and then extended the lead to two at the six minute mark. Cameron Morris cut the lead down to one with seven minutes remaining in the period, but a quick response from the Steel, followed by two empty net goals iced the game, with the Wolverines losing by a final score of 6-2.

Anchorage will play their final two homes games of the regular season this upcoming weekend, against their in-state rivals the Kenai River Brown Bears. Tickets are available now at tickets.anchoragewolverines.com, or fans can watch the live broadcast exclusively on HockeyTV.
