Anchorage, Alaska | 2/17/23 | Isaac Smoldon

The Anchorage Wolverines won a thriller on Friday night, beating the Janesville Jets 4-3 in overtime. Eino Rissanen made 25 saves for the Wolverines in the contest, with recent Robert Morris University commit Jackson Reineke winning the game in OT for Anchorage.

The Wolverines trailed by a goal after a back-and-forth opening frame, by a score of 2-1. Kade Shea was the lone goal scorer for the Wolverines, off a bounce pass from Andy Ramsey. Each team scored a single goal in the middle frame, with Anchorage’s tally coming from Kyle Bauer. Cameron Morris tied the game early in the 3rd thanks to an assist from Aiden Westin, but neither team would be able to end the game in regulation, and so the game went into overtime. Just 16 seconds in, Reineke tipped in a pass from Trent Powell, ending the game and giving Anchorage two points in the Midwest division standings.

The Wolverines are now just two points out of a playoff position, and could jump Janesville with a regulation win Saturday at 7 p.m. AKST. It will be the last game between the two teams this regular season.
