Anchorage Bounces Back in 4-2 Win

The Wolverines took game two of their series against the Jets, winning by a score of 4-2. Shane Soderwall made 27 saves on 29 shots in the contest, while four different players for Anchorage recorded goals. The Wolverines now have a chance to secure four points with a win tonight in the first game of 2022.

There was just one goal scored in the 1st, and this time it would be Anchorage who went up first. Jackson Reineke scored his 7th goal of the season over halfway through the opening frame. In the 2nd however, the Jets scored two unanswered goals to take a lead. Robby Newton and Jonah Aegerter scored late at 13:04 and 16:13 into the frame. Hunter Bischoff was able to tie the game back up before the end of the frame however, off an assist from Cade Anderson, who picked up his first two points of the season in the contest.

The 3rd period would be dominated by Anchorage, with Colton Friesen scoring with just under 5 minutes left to play, to give the Wolverines their one-goal lead back. Aiden Westin added an empty net goal late in regulation to secure Anchorage’s win and the Wolverines recorded their first win following the Christmas break.

With the win, Anchorage gains some room over the Chippewa Steel in the Midwest standings, and they also now sit only four points behind the Springfield Jr. Blues. The Wolverines and Jets have one more game against each other on New Year’s Day, at 4PM AKST.
