Anchorage Bids Farewell to Veteran Players in Final Series of the Season

Apr 11, 2023

Anchorage, Alaska |4/11/23 | Isaac Smoldon

The Anchorage Wolverines head to Soldotna to play their final games of the 2022-23 season after being eliminated from playoff contention last weekend. Both Friday’s and Saturday’s games will start at 7:30 p.m. and will take place at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

Anchorage’s playoff hopes were cut short thanks to a series split this previous weekend with the Brown Bears, and a Chippewa victory on Saturday night against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. The Wolverines did however win the Club 49 Cup, thanks to their overtime win on Saturday night, and were presented with the trophy on the ice following the game. Anchorage has a record of 6-2-2 against Kenai River this season.

Saturday’s game will be the final junior hockey game for a huge chunk of Wolverines’ veterans, including captain and this past Saturday’s OT hero Andy Ramsey, and current points leader Jackson Reineke.  Aiden Westin and Cameron Morris, both of whom passed the 100-point mark for their junior hockey career this season, as well as other familiar faces from Anchorage’s inaugural 2021-22 roster such as Kory DiPonio, Cooper Morris, Hayden Hennen, Clay Allen and Shane Soderwall, and new additions Eino Rissanen, Revy Mack and Kyle Bauer will all age-out following Saturday’s game.

The Wolverines’ live broadcast for the final two games of the 2022-23 season can be watched exclusively on HockeyTV by selecting the AWAY feed.
