The Anchorage Wolverines are heading to Blaine Minnesota for the semi-final round of the Robertson Cup Playoffs, following their game four win over the Minnesota Wilderness. The Wolverines won in convincing fashion, scoring three goals in the third period to win by a final score of 5-1. Their next game will take place Friday, May 20th at Fogerty Arena in Blaine Minnesota.

Anchorage started its scoring 6:01 into the 1st period, with Jackson Reineke potting his third of the playoffs off a rebound chance in front of the net. Colton Friesen fired a one-timer past Minnesota goaltender Konrad Kausch a minute later off of a pass from Matt Johnson to make the game 2-0 after one period of play. The Wilderness would dominate the second period, but a strong performance by Raythan Robbins held the home team scoreless through the first 40 minutes.

In the final period, Minnesota was desperate to score and stay alive in the series, and William Persson got his team on the board and cut the Anchorage lead to one just 54 seconds into the 3rd. The Wolverines would strike back quickly however, with Andy Ramsey one-touching a backhand shot past Kausch to put Anchorage back up by two. Five minutes Bohdan Panasenko scored his first of the playoffs to make the game 4-1, and an empty net goal by Friesen iced both the game and the series for the Wolverines.

Robbins had 39 saves on 40 shots in the game, continuing his excellent playoff performance. Friesen and Matt Johnson had two points apiece on the night, with Friesen’s first goal becoming the game winner.

Anchorage will play this upcoming Friday, May 20th at Fogerty Arena in Blaine Minnesota at either 1:30 PM AKST or 4:30 PM AKST depending on the results of other divisional finals. The semi-final round will be a best-of-three series, and should the Wolverines move on, the championship game will be a winner-take-all contest on Tuesday, May 24th at 4 PM AKST.
