ANCHORAGE, AK — The Wolverines closed out the NAHL Showcase on a less-than-high note, falling 5-1 to the Bismarck Bobcats.
Bismarck struck first just five minutes into the game, taking an early 1-0 lead. The Bobcats added another in the second frame, but Aiden Lawson answered shortly after to cut the deficit back to one and give the Wolverines some momentum heading into the third.
Anchorage came out hungry in the final frame, controlling the early minutes and pressing for the equalizer. But the momentum was short-lived.
With Michael Kotora in the box serving a tripping penalty, Bismarck capitalized on the power play to extend its lead to 3-1.
Ten minutes later, Ethan Frison and Loic Nasreddine were both sent to the box, giving the Bobcats another power play opportunity. Bismarck took advantage, scoring twice more to put the game out of reach and secure the 5-1 victory.
The Wolverines now turn their attention to their next road trip, with two games against the Janesville Jets on October 2 and 3 in Janesville, Wisconsin.
