ANCHORAGE, AK — After both netminders turned aside chance after chance through the first two periods, Luc Bydal finally broke the deadlock six minutes into the final frame, giving the Wolverines a 1-0 lead with 14 minutes to play.
Fairbanks answered three minutes later, capitalizing on the man advantage to even the score. With overtime looming and just 30 seconds left on the clock, Dean Andrews rang in the game-winner for the Ice Dogs, leaving the Wolverines with little time to mount a response.
Despite the split series, the Wolverines remain atop the Club 49 Point Tracker with 19 points, while Fairbanks closes the gap with 16.
The two teams will meet once more this month, as the Wolverines head north to Fairbanks this weekend. Anchorage won’t return home until February 27–28, when they host the Chippewa Steel.
