Chippewa, Wisconsin | 9/24/22 | Isaac Smoldon

The Anchorage Wolverines took four out of a possible six points available in the Midwest Division standings this past weekend, following their 6-3 win over the Chippewa Steel on Saturday night. Ben Dardis secured his first win of the season in net for Anchorage, making 42 saves on 45 shots.

Gage Brown got the scoring started five minutes into the 1st period, scoring his first goal of the season. Chippewa tied the game halfway through the frame, but Jackson Reineke ensured that the Wolverines would go into the 2nd up by a goal with a late period tally for his third of the season. Then Aiden Westin joined Brown and Reineke on the scoresheet for the Wolverines, scoring his first of the year with just over four minutes to play in the middle frame. The three unanswered goals that Anchorage would record in the final period ensured their victory, with Kyle Bauer and Logan Lyke notching their first of the year, and Reineke adding a goal for his second of the game. The Wolverine’s impressive six goals scored saw them win comfortably, by a final score of 6-3.

Gage Brown had three points during the game for Anchorage, with Wilson Dahlheimer and Clay Allen picking up two assists each. The Wolverines will play three more games on the road this upcoming weekend, in Cloquet against the Minnesota Wilderness. Friday and Saturday night’s games take place at 4:15 p.m. AKDT and Sunday’s game starts at 2:15 p.m. AKDT. All games are available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV.
