Just before the NAHL trade deadline, the Anchorage Wolverines completed a transaction  with the El Paso Rhinos, acquiring 20 year old forward Matt Johnson (11/25/2001) for forward Alexander Babich (3/13/2003).

Director of Hockey Keith Morris:

“Matt is a player who I had coached in a spring showcase last year and was interested in bringing him to Anchorage. He is an elite skater who has an offensive flair to his game and will help strengthen our offense down the stretch. He is an outstanding young man who fits the standards that our organization looks for in individuals. He has committed to play at University of Alaska Anchorage next year, and we are pleased he can get a head start in Anchorage by finishing the season with the Wolverines before he begins with UAA.”

The Anchorage Wolverines are so thankful to have had Alexander as part of their organization. Alexander’s work ethic, commitment and great attitude will leave a lasting impression on the team and the community. The Wolverines wish him all the best in his time with El Paso and then on to RPI for his college career.
