Wolverines Lose in Final Game of Showcase

The Anchorage Wolverines were defeated in the final game of the NAHL Showcase on Saturday evening, losing to the Minot Minotauros by a final score of 5-2. Anchorage’s record in the showcase was 1-2-1, leaving them with three points in the standings as they head into their first divisional games next week.

The Wolverines were scored on twice in the middle of the first, with Jack O’Hanisain and Justin Dauphinais scoring for the Minotauros to make it 2-0 after one period of play. Anchorage’s troubles continued into the 2nd, with Minot outscoring them 3-1 in the period. The Wolverines’ lone goal came from Danny Reis, his first of the season, with Kyle Bauer picking up an assist. In the final period, David Tolan would score the only goal of the frame, picking up his first of the year on the powerplay for Anchorage. Despite Tolan’s goal, the Wolverines would ultimately lose the game by a final score of 5-2.

Shane Soderwall made 34 saves on the 39 shots he faced from the Minotauros in the contest. Anchorage’s next games will take place this upcoming weekend, with the Wolverines playing a three-game series against the Chippewa Steel that starts Thursday at 4 p.m. AKDT. The two teams play at the same time on Friday and Saturday as well, and as always, the games are available exclusively to watch on HockeyTV.
