Nothing came easy for the Anchorage Wolverines tonight, seeing their first overtime period of playoffs. The Wolverines will finish the series next weekend in Minnesota after taking the first two games of the five game series.

The Minnesota Wilderness took their first lead of the weekend in the third frame after former Wolverines player, Joe Cesario, notched the Wilderness’ only goal between two games.

Cole Christian hit a bar-down snipe, stealing the Wilderness’ lead just five minutes later and bringing the Wolverines back into the game.

The teams entered overtime knowing a full 20-minute sudden death period was ahead of them, but Tyler Hennen had different plans. Drew Nelson gave Bryce Monrean the puck behind the net, Monrean sent it in front for Hennen to seal the deal, ending the period before the four minute mark.

Liam Beerman had another big night between the pipes for the Wolverines, stopping 36 of 37 shots against, making huge saves and keeping the Wolverines alive.

The series will be completed at Minnesota’s home ice next weekend, the Wolverines only need to win one more game to take the series and head to the divisional championship; where they will play the winner of the Wisconsin Windigo and Janesville Jets series.
